The Possession of Hannah Grace (2018): "When You Die, You Die. End of Story.”

Original Post Date: 12.01.18

Great quote by Megan Reed from The Possession of Hannah Grace (2018)“When you die, you die. End of story.”

I watched this trailer this morning and made me want to watch the movie asap. (So I did.) An ex-cop down on her luck (tortured souls are my favorite), working graveyard at the morgue? And one of the corpses being possessed by a demon and healing itself when killing people? Yaz! Yaz! Yaz! All that stuff is my shiiiiiiiit!

*** WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD ***

The Possession of Hannah Grace tells the story of ex-cop Megan Reed who is dealing with emotional trauma, addiction, and a relationship breakup, all while starting a new entry level job at the city morgue as a coroner’s assistant… just imagine this poor woman receiving corpses, logging them into the system, taking initial wound pictures and fingerprints, all that sort of thing, and on the graveyard shift all by herself. Poor Megan, poor, poor Megan.

Yes, this movie focuses on Megan but, who the hell is Hannah Grace then? Hannah is the unlucky girl who ends up at Megan’s job, hauled inside a body bag. They said she was found on an alley when someone was trying to slice her up –the perpetrator ran away, they said. Hannah’s body was a total mess, burnt, sliced, contorted, yet beautiful to watch. The corpse’s skin was nice and smooth-looking, it belonged to a young woman.

Hannah was the daughter of Grainger, a guy desperate enough to heal his child that even resorted to have the Church perform an exorcism on her. [Side note: This is where I got confused and maybe need to re-watch the movie when it becomes a streamer but, was this Hannah’s first exorcism? Or the latest one? Was she sick with depression and anxiety as her father confessed to Megan? Or was the dad so ignorant and scared that he tried to “exorcise” her mental illness “demons” via religion? Or was she really possessed by an old-school demon? Confusion.]

On the failed exorcism of Hannah, the evil force inside her killed one priest and only injured another thanks to her dad acting quickly and smothering her before she could continue killing. This happened three months ago. Today, Hannah’s fresh corpse was brought to the morgue. Hannah’s evil force was still inside her and she was still killing people and her dad was still trying to destroy the body by burning her and slicing her up, but the thing was, Hannah’s body healed itself when she killed people. (The more the corpse got hurt, the more she killed.)

Back at the morgue in present day, all the juicy aspects of having a three-month old, fresh-looking, mysterious yet gorgeous possessed corpse shined like nobody’s business. It was fun to watch Hannah’s wounds heal as she killed, and it was entertaining to watch Megan feel like she was going crazy.

The movie ended as it had to. Megan realized she was not seeing things (our broken heroine will be okay), and regained her trust in herself by throwing Hannah into the incinerator (our cool villain sadly dies). When you die, you die.

End of story,

HHN RIP, A Love Story

Original Post Date: 10.28.18

Everything was better this year at Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) — everything! I even found myself saying out loud at one point, “If I died right now, I’d die happy” (you could assume I was in a state of bliss for the 6+ hours we spent at Universal Studios for our yearly Halloween celebration). So, without further ado, I present to you all the things I loved at this year’s HHN. Let’s do this!

hhn20182.jpg
  • Valet parking being closer to the main entrance; I appreciated not having to walk thru Universal City Walk

  • A very diligent Security Attendant going thru my belongings at security check; peace of mind is priceless

  • The speakers at the entrance playing “The Day is My Enemy” by The Prodigy

  • A smooth check-in at the R.I.P. Lounge

  • This year’s introduction to the tour experience right off the bat; no more going straight to dinner by yourself

  • Cara, our Tour Guide; she was the best and explained at the very beginning what our itinerary was going to be about

  • Dinner; the risotto and the pumpkin ravioli were to die for, and so were the decadent fruit tarts

  • Stranger Things Photo op; it almost made me want to watch the series for the first time ever (never have)

  • Universal MONSTERS Maze; my favorite maze of the night featuring all the classic monsters (OMG The Bride!)

  • Holidayz in HELL Scare Zone; my favorite scare zone of the night featuring a very creepy Thanksgiving

  • Terror Tram Hollywood Harry’s Dreadtime Storiez; all the clowns, all of the evil clowns! (LOVE the backlot!)

  • Snack break at a different lounge with a Makeup Artist’s live demoing a Demon makeup

  • Stranger Things Maze inside a Sound Stage (!!!)

  • The First Purge Maze incident; a Scare Actor accidentally hit my hand pretty hard with a prop and was very apologetic immediately after it happened (he/she could have ignored it, but nope, instead broke character to make sure I was okay)

  • Trick ‘r Treat Maze; is there something else to be said about it? It was a freaking “Trick ‘r Treat” maze!

  • Poltergeist Maze; those sexy coffins at the end (I need one, please)

  • Blum House Chapter Two Maze; seriously though, I need to watch “Truth or Dare” like, right now (never have), it looked so good!

  • And last but not least, the group’s trolley (above picture); not having to take the insufferable escalators? Nor having to walk thru the annoying Toxic Tunnel? Universal Studios R.I.P. tour, thank you, thank you so much! #LOVEU

Phew! That was a long list, was it not? Okay, okay, one more thing before I leave: a walkthrough of my favorite maze, enjoy!
